Kasper Salonen
Exhibition
This collection of mixed media artworks from poet and artist Kasper Salonen exhibits two different phases in his new visual art style, both born in or post-lockdown 2020. The force and flow of colorful creation finds organic avenues in Salonen’s freeform shape-language and detailed psychedelic impressions. Mythopoesis means “myth creation”, which is what we humans do.
“I am a self-taught improvisational experimenter, and literally an amateur; I love the thematic combination of abstract visual elements, but I also adore accidental beauty and semi-structured chaos. Mixed media, free form-association, and the collage style suit me because in these disciplines even apparent errors may readily lead to new ideas or juxtapositions.”

About the artist
Kasper Salonen (b. 1987) is a poet, translator, and visual artist from Southern Finland. He has performed and published poetry (as books, EPs, and videos) in English and Finnish, both his native languages. Salonen is also active on the cultural landscape as a translator of poetry and prose, and through his long-standing work with the spoken word collective Helsinki Poetry Connection. Salonen’s visual art has rarely been on display, but his volume of work is growing by the day.
